As many of you will know I have been an avid reader for the last 10 or so years.
When people ask which book I would recommend them the answer is usually very different depending on who I'm speaking to.
If it's a work colleague it may be a business book, if it's a gym member it may be a psychology and mindset book, if it's a fellow coach I may recommend something on nutrition and I regularly keep my mum right on which Colleen Hoover book she'd enjoy!
However one book I recommend to EVERYONE is The Almanack of Naval Ravikant. It is outstanding and has so many moments you will find yourself nodding along with (It covers such a wide array of topics I'm not even going to try and explain what it is).
The reason for this email is about a quote in it:
'To build true wealth find the thing that feels like play to you but is work to others'. (I'm paraphrasing slightly).
I have always looked at this with business in mind. I genuinely LOVE almost everything about the gym (still waiting on the wealth part haha).
But a few conversations today made me realise how powerful this statement is with regard to your health and fitness journey.
The reality is if you have a good well structured programme (cough, Elevate98, cough) then the secret sauce is consistency.
What creates consistency?
Enjoyment and results.
Once you find somewhere you enjoy and feel the benefit from then you are onto something good.
