Look, today is a bit more 'motivational' and 'woo woo' than my normal style but I really do believe in this concept.
Almost everyone starts their health and fitness journey to move AWAY from something.
That may be moving away from being in pain.
It may be moving away from lacking confidence in yourself.
It may be moving away from a health scare.
These are the deep, instrinsic motivators for exercise.
We then have the more surface level things like losing weight, improving our lifts or strengthening our heart health (all still great goals).
Hopefully, if you find the right training style and stay consistent, you'll achieve many of these things on your health and fitness journey.
But we think the beauty of exercise runs deeper.
It actually shifts who you become as a person along that journey.
You become someone who has health seeking behaviours and values their health and fitness.
You become someone who works out on holiday, not because you want to 'burn' what you eat but because you actually enjoy the feeling of exercise.
You are gutted your gym is shut on Christmas day because you value the feeling of getting fitter and stronger.
You become someone who values their gym membership higher than eating out when analysing finances.
More importantly than ALL of this is that you set an example.
You set an example for the people that you love that looking after your body and mind is one of the BEST investments you'll ever make.
You become the person who takes the stairs instead of the lift...
So, instead of just getting caught up in tangible progress (on that note it was so good to see so many members set new Personal Bests on testing week) consider the intangible too.
