It was an action packed weekend.
I had my final (work) trip to London for the year on Friday. It was a great day, however travelling back in the midst of storm Darragh made for a fun journey home...
It was then straight into a busy weekend of work at Elevate98.
A big theme that came out of Friday's course was then repeated with a few members.
It was all around wellness and longevity.
These are now HUGE topics and some of the biggest trends we are seeing, I don't see any sign of this slowing either!
There is so much we can talk to on this and indeed I have written some blogs previously that cover the topic so today I am going to look at it from a different angle.
This is a quote I heard on a recent podcast with Chris Williamson and Dr Mike Israetel:
'The stress your experiencing while trying to optimise for longevity is having the opposite affect (at a certain point)'.
Now to unpack and add some context, Dr Mike was basically saying that if you eat pretty well, train consistently and look after your sleep and don't stress about the 'bad' days or meals too much you may actually be better of than someone who is obsessive over being perfect because the stress itself will have an adverse affect on their health.
Such common sense I know but just hearing it really got me thinking.
How many of us (myself included) are worrying too much about things we don't need to?
Realistically:
-Train 3-5x per week (depending on fitness level).
-Sleep 7-9 hours per night.
-Eat 80% whole foods and stick within a calorie range that moderates your weight.
Do the above 80-90% of the time and don't stress too much when you go off track.
Make sure when it comes to fitness we aren't mastering the minors (ice baths, breathwork, food timing etc) before we have the above nailed.
As always I'm not saying the 1% things don't help I'm just saying for most of us we just need to consistently nail the basics and try have fun whilst doing so.
